I Always Wanted To Help... But How?

Became a transports volunteer in May 2010

Hi everyone,

Yesterday I put out the word on our FaceBook that some transport help was needed at Louisville Metro Animal Services, the city-run shelter.  Several dogs were going to a rescue but they needed a ride to get there.

We received quite a response.  People wanted to help and offered to help as they were able.

It was proof positive of something I believe wholeheartedly - that people can't do anything to save more animals if you don't tell them you need a hand.

In fact, one of the many who offered to lend a hand was connected to another group that needed transport help after our first request was filled.

Sheridan Lynn sent me this short note:

"I’ve always wanted to help but never knew where to start. I can’t wait for my first mission!!"

It really touched me and made me remember that the key to No Kill success is simple - ask for help.

So, we're asking on behalf of the animals.  Please look at our immediate needs section and other programs. If something doesn't appeal to you, there's probably something not listed.  Just email me at JessicaReid@nokill-louisville.com, and I'll find a way for you to take part that fits your skills and personality.

Remember - continue to ask.  Spread the word and ask others to help! If we all lend a hand, not only will you be fulfilled by the love animals give in return BUT you'll make some great friends along the way and find that it's not so hard when we're all helping out.

With love and joy to you each,

Jessica Reid

I am looking for a home for Diesel, a very well mannered and docile pit bull. He is currently staying with a single mother and her two small children but she cannot keep him much longer. He is very playful but not aggressive and is good with the kids (aged 2 and 6 mos.). Can you help me??
